what was even their goal then? I've been struggling to answer that. Literally every "fix" so far has stepped us back towards the previous system. I feel like by the time all the common suggestions are implemented we literally have the old system again. Not saying that's bad, it just means everyone prefers the previous version.
What was the intended benefit of the new system? to make it more "fun" by being more challenging? They got the 2nd part right at least lol. You should be rewarding and incentivizing people to finish higher and reach their limits, but this does the opposite for many people.
If leagues is the system they really want, Just have people start with the damage 1 or 2 tiers below where they finish, (i.e. finish in legend, next week start in legend but taking damage equivalent to gold 1 or 2 until you reach legend again).
Sorry to continue beating the dead horse, but I feel like I was riding it happily along because my team can handle it all but I want all my homies here to stay happy and stick around too.
