The game puts you in control of a team of Digimon with different stats and skills. Your goal is to defeat enemy Digimon in turn-based combat.
The "Attack Zone" contains 10 cards of different colors. You have to match 3 cards of the same color in order to get all your Digimon of that color to attack.
Also, you can see the 4 upcoming cards in the "Next Cards" area on top of the Attack Zone. When you tap on the first two cards in the "Attack Zone", you will draw 2 cards from the "Next Cards" area and you will be able to select one of them in order to create your match of 3 cards.
After you first match 3 cards, the game will continue to match all other possible combinations of 3 same-colored cards. This is called a "Chain". The bigger the Chain, the higher the damage you will inflict. In time you will learn to plan for the largest possible chains with the available cards.
Once the attack of a Digimon has been activated by a match of 3 cards of its color, matches of any other color in the same chain will continue to increase its damage.
Card Colors and Race Affinity
Each card color represents a Digimon race. There are five races:
• Dragon - Red
• Knight - Blue
• Nature - Green
• Dark - Purple
• Holy – Yellow
The Digimon with the same race color as the matched cards will attack.
The Race affinity means that each color is stronger than a second color and weaker than a third color, like Rock-Paper-Scissors. A stronger color inflicts more damage, while a weaker color in inflicts less damage in Race affinities.
Red > Green, Blue > Red, Green > Blue. Purple and Yellow each inflict more damage on each other, while having no bonuses or penalties against the other three races.
You can always check the in-game Pause Menu to see race affinities.
Card Numbers and Critical Attacks
Each card has a number between 1 and 9. If the 3 same-colored cards you match have the same number (e.g. 5-5-5) or consecutive numbers (e.g. 6-7-8), your Digimon will make a CRITICAL attack, which increases their damage.
Brown Cards and Healing
Matching 3 brown cards will heal some of your lost HP (Hit Points). The amount healed depends on the combined "Support" stats of all the Digimon in your team. The numbers on cards also apply for brown cards, increasing the amount healed.
The black Wild Cards can substitute any color or number. Match 3 Wild Cards for a Wild Critical attack that will charge all of your Digimon`s attacks and also heal you.
The number on top of an enemy Digimon is the number of turns until it will attack.
Changing the Attack Target
You can tap any enemy to attack it next. Try to focus on the strongest enemies first - the ones with the "Danger" warning. Another strategy is to focus on the enemy Digimon that will attack you first.
Some Digimon skills are weak when used alone but very powerful when used in synergy with other skills. You need at least two Digimon in your team that can blend their skills to create a very powerful combo.
For example, the skill “Increase the value of all cards by 2” is not so strong on most cards, but it will increase a card with the value of 9 to a Wild Card. Use it after the skill “Change the value of all cards to 9” in order to transform ALL the cards into WILD CARDS.
Digimon Stats, Skills and Upgrades
Digimon have various rarities which are represented by stars.
There are 4 key stats that each Digimon has:
- Attack - Raw Damage
- Defense - How much of the enemies Damage is blocked
- HP (Hit Points) - How much health each Digimon has. Your HP in battle is the total HP of all your Digimon.
- Recovery - Increases the amount of HP restored when matching brown cards. Like HP, the amount you recover depends on the total Recovery of all your Digimon.
Digimon have two abilities which can be activated after a certain amount of turns by double tapping on them in battle. Which is based on both the ability itself and the digimon level.
• Leader skill - Only usable f your digimon is the team leader or via a companions leader.
• Main skill - Can be used after sufficent turns have been reached.
Leader Digimon have access to both skills which are used at the same time but only once the ability with the most turns has been reached.
You can upgrade your Digimon in three ways: Digifuse, Digivolve and Limit Break.
Increase the level of a Digimon by using other Digimon or items as sacrifice material.
The most efficient way is to always use all 5 material slots. The best way to Digifuse is to use 1 or 2 EXP Floppy Gold next to other Digimon of the same Race.
Only a maximum level Digimon can Digivolve. To Digivolve you also need other Digimon and evolution capacitors, so check out the necessary items each time you want to Digivolve. The Digimon and the capacitor used in the evolution process will disappear.
Only some maximum level Digimon can Limit Break using another identical Digimon! This will increase its maximum level limit by 5. You can repeat this procedure 4 times to increase the maximum level by 20. A few specific Digimon can Limit Break a 5th time using a special Burst Capacitor. The Digimon used as material for the Limit Break can be at Level 1.
Best ways to get upgrade materials
For each Digimon upgrade you will need Bits, Digimon, and Capacitors, all of which you can find in Battles. Make sure to tap the “Drop Info” button for each Island to see its loot.
Each Island in the campaign gives you an unique Special Gift that you’ll receive only once after you complete all 3 battles on that Island!
Special Events are always going on. Be sure to check them out since they give the best rewards (Digimon and Special Materials), and also give a lot of experience and bits.
Note that some Digimon can be upgraded only by using materials that drop from these events.
Pro-Tip: Fragments or Grains that drop from the Special Events can also be used as Digifuse materials and they give lots of experience. If the Digimon you want to upgrade has a different color (race), use a Digimon of its color and 4 Fragments or crystals to get lots of experience.
There are two types of Missions: the Daily missions and Long Term missions. Complete them to get some great rewards! All Daily missions can be refreshed to collect their rewards over and over again.
Pro-Tip: Be sure you check out the missions tab before you start any battle to complete them as fast as possible.
