So you know your way around Digimon Heroes and you’ve decided you want to keep getting better and join the elite players of this game. Great decision! This game rewards effort, and the devs are really active in the community.
This guide contains some of the lessons I’ve learned in my own journey (some of which I learned the hard way…) and will help you to get on the fast track to where you want to be.
Note: I've now written a bumper guide which charts a glide path to LR tier and beyond. Check it out:
The advice below should still be useful although it is now just a bit repetitive if you've read the article above.
Spend DM on the upgraded Training Zones and on storage space!
The extra Training Zones are really good - a regular training zone gives up to 7200 xp per hour and the DM slots are double/triple that. And storage space is just something everyone needs all the time, that never changes. These should be priority until you get really strong.
The reason why the premium digimon aren’t worth it is because in general, the digimon that you can limit break the most are so much better than digimon you can’t limit break. So your king or god rank digimon that get a couple of limit breaks will be better than the SP+ digimon from the premium eggs, because it’s really hard to get multiple copies from the premium eggs without spending literally hundreds of dollars.
SP tickets are also not worth it. Once you get strong enough it’ll be better to use batteries to farm the islands which drop the tickets naturally. You'll also want DM for PVP crowns instead once you reach the higher PVP ranks.
Of course if you decide to support the game and buy some DM, great! And feel free to do what you want (it’s your money :P). I’d just recommend you wait for a deal (which usually come on the weekend) and still prioritise the extra training zones and storage space.
The DM eggs rotate every couple of weeks. So you can buy DM eggs in one lump rather than spreading it out across different egg rotations, as the more copies of the same digimon you can pick up, the stronger they’ll be. Or you can deliberately buy DM eggs across rotations if you want to collect lots and don’t mind getting the strongest possible mons.
Save your batteries and pvp crowns
Eventually you’ll have 200 total energy, you’ll be able to complete the harder islands for better yields, and your PVP performance will reach the heights of the reward scale. At that point, batteries and crowns become super valuable.
Read up on the Digifuse Formula
Digifusing is key to levelling digimon, and so it’s important to know how to get the most out of your fusions. https://m.reddit.com/r/DigimonHeroes/comments/4j2yae/digifuse_exp_full_formula/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=true
As a very rough guide, the gold disks are very valuable, use them with lots of high rank digimon (after levelling them up a bit). Use silver disks with slightly lower rank digimon. Use your lowest rank and bronze disks to just feed the digimon you’re going to use with the bigger disks.
You’ll have to adapt your ideal fuses based on your bit levels... and space... and disks... and material availability… yeah, there a lot of variables to consider. Isn’t it fun?
Luckily there's a nifty calculator which can help. Give it a play: http://forum.digimon-heroes.com/t/exp-calculator/4519
Think about what to prioritise
Especially until you get stronger, you won’t be able to make everything. You’ll have to make choices as to what you prioritise.
I would say your priority should be able to build a solid PVP team and a good enough team to complete the hard islands. The reason is because the higher in PVP and PVE you get, the more resources you have to work with each week, meaning you’ll be more free to make what you want.
From there you’ll want to think about how much you’re able to play. If you’re quite casual, then you’ll have to prioritise fewer digimon, eg. you might be able to complete 1 event island every 2 weeks. If you’re able to play a lot more, then you are in a better position to complete one or two every week.
So do read up on what makes a good pvp attack team. In a nutshell, you need high defense, effects that get down to activating in 1 turn, effects that do direct damage in a few turns, and healing effects). If you want help deciding what digimon are worth shooting for, just ask the community!
Hidden Gem Digimon
Lucemon has scary good potential, so hang on to up to 6 or 12 of those that you pick up. Metaletemon and Craniummon are staples as they can be easily farmed and digivolved 5 or 6 times into really strong and useful versions.
Other than them, the rank 5s and above have some real gems and are best to hang on to until you’re 100% sure they don’t have potential and that they don’t fit into your team. If you are unsure about any other mons, you can always ask here: http://forum.digimon-heroes.com/t/ask-mon-leveling-team-building-help-questions-here/2189
Enjoy the game!
Don’t fret about what everyone else has, there is diversity in the game. If you collect several Lotusmon, limit break it and it could do do well for you. If you hit a flash event and collect a Chaosmon or two, you might be able to build a solid holy team. Play with what you got and have fun!
